Age Progression

Auriole Prince is one of the few age progression artists in Europe and has had many years experience using the technique. Although age progressions are normally computer generated images, there is no age progression software in existence, as each person ages differently. Reference photographs of family members are used, alongside a good knowledge of the anatomy of the face.

Child and adult age progression can be used in long term cases of missing persons and can help to generate new publicity in an older case. An age progression artist uses the computer as a tool to manipulate and merge features to create an updated image of what the person may look like today. The age progression artist needs a good understanding of the changes that occur with the growth of the underlying bone structure and dentition.

Child age progression In cases of missing children, the child must have been missing for at least two years to warrant an age progression. The child must also be at least two years old at the time they went missing. Photographs of the parents and siblings are used to create an updated computerised image of the missing person.

What is needed for an age progression

• Every circumstance is different, but ideally an original portrait style photograph is needed of the person who is going to be age progressed.
• Any other photos showing the person at different angles and with different expressions.
• Photographs of siblings, older or younger
• Photographs of both parents at the same age the person would be now

Adult age enhancement

In cases of long term missing adults, adult age enhanced images can be used when no other leads have come forward. The enhanced image is only ever an estimate or likeness as environmental factors are usually not known.

Image enhancement can be used to change the look of someone, by changing hairstyles, clothing and increasing/ decreasing weight for example.
